Maximise the potential of large windows in your living or dining room by adding old-fashioned oil lamps and candles in the early evening. In fading light these create a really restful atmosphere. The natural light avoids an overly sombre look.

A low ceiling pendant light is perfect for setting the scene for an important celebratory meal. This can be especially intimate if it is the only source of light in the room after dark, dramatically highlighting your carefully prepared dishes.
