Feng Shui And The Art Of Installing Curtains
Feng Shui may be an ancient Chinese philosophy, but all those who believe that nature plays an important part in our lives practice it. Feng Shui propagates a regular and unobstructed flow of positive energy or ‘chi’, in the places we live or work. It believes in harmonising the natural elements of wind, and water with our everyday lives. It also stresses upon acquiring good luck through the natural elements of life.
There are many who use the principles of Feng Shui when forming the plans of their house, and office layouts. The basic ideas that are involved in it are quite simple, such as the amount of clutter should be minimal. According to Feng Shui, clutter, or anything that stores energy will lead to bad luck. This is because stores of energy prevent its unconstrained flow in the environment with may lead to negative consequences for the people living around it.
Curtains are an important part of our soft furnishings. There significance is enhanced by the fact that they are usually hung in places, which are some sort of entrances to our homes or offices: doors and windows. Energy flows in a building through doors and windows, therefore curtains should be chosen according to the principles of Feng Shui.
One should follow the basic rules of Feng Shui, which are outlined as under:
1. Make sure that curtains are open during daytime, so that the room gets sun light, and fresh air.
2. Darkness is associated with evil and bad luck; therefore, curtains should be closed at night.
3. Your windows should not open inwards, and if they do, make sure that they are not west open. This direction represents end of life, or the ending of anything, be it a thing or man. If, there is negative energy around, install a mirror, or keep a plant with round leaves.
4. Curtain rings, and accessories should be made up of natural fiber, preferably wood. Plastic items should not be used at all.
5. Curtains should be wide, and long enough to cover the windows completely, and reach the floor.
6. The curtains must have a style and curls even when they are drawn.
7) There should be minimal hindrance when curtains are opened or closed.
8. Curtains should be kept clean. Dirty curtains will destroy positive energy that is entering the room.
9. The colours and material of the curtains should be chosen according to the weather and season.
10. Your windows are considered as good Feng Shui if they are arch-shaped or octagonal.
11) If, you leave your curtains without tying them when you open them can also lead to bad energy. Make sure you avoid that.
Following the principles of Feng Shui brings many benefits. It is something that creates harmony between man, and Nature. Bringing man close to Nature not only brings him a sense of peace, and serenity, but it also fixes many things in his surroundings, so that those around him are able to feel it too.
