Effective backlink strategies will get your website higher search engine ranking. Google is probably the most well known search engine. You can be on the first page of search results on Google by paying a high pay per click price on the right hand of the page or you can work to be ranked high on the organic search listings.

The organic listings are the ones on the left where most people look and click when they are looking for information online. Backlink strategies mean that you want as many websites as possible to have a link on their website to your website. The Google spiders which is their software goes out onto the web to find websites with a lot of relevant content, many well placed key words, and websites with many links back to their website. Why Google considers this a reason to rank one website higher than another on their organic search pages is not the issue.

You want, as a website owner, to have as many back links to your website as possible. One way is to find websites that are related to your website and ask that website owner to place a link from his site to your site. Of course you tell him that you will place a link from your site to his site.

If you are selling daily planners and accessories you can have information on how to save money on your tax return. You can then place a link on your website to a website about tax preparation. Then contact the owner of that tax website and let him or her know you have placed a backlink on your website and if he or she would place a backlink on her site to your website.

Contact the website owner and say you are willing to put a back link on your website to his website. You can even write an article for him on daily planning and how it relates to keeping tax records. Include a link to your website in your article. He now has new content on his site and you have one more back link.

Another way to build back links is to answer questions on forums. Most forums allow you to place a website link in the source box of your answer. There is nothing wrong with you listing your link to your website so people can go there to read more related information. Watch out though that you do not make your answer a commercial for your website. You might get banned from the forum for trying to sell instead of trying to help people.

Do not discount article submission for building back links. Submit your articles to a directory with your website link and when it is picked up and placed on a website you will have another back link for Google count in your favor.

Google you have to know penalizes websites that get too many back links too fast. So the best backlink strategies should take four to eight months in order to not be hurt by Google. But be creative and you will be rewarded with higher listings on the organic search side of the search engines.
